An intervention specialist must understand the basics of addiction. Further, and intervention specialist must be able to use that same understanding of addiction to not only relate to the person they are working with but also ultimately get the person’s agreement to seek help immediately. This is of course followed up with quick transition to the drug and alcohol rehab center of choice as well as follow up through and after the addiction treatment.

Our intervention specialists know much more than the basics of addiction. Many have been through addiction themselves and have that historical knowledge base to draw from when approaching someone who is generally distrustful of anyone claiming to “know how they feel”. Addicts are generally intelligent and very often have what is usually considered “street smarts”. They know when they are being conned or manipulated by someone who truly doesn’t understand what they are going through. Our intervention specialist can cut through all the lies and speak to the person from a reality based perspective. Our team know addiction but they also know the individual doesn’t want to be the person they have become. This intervention style is the most straight forward and effective available because it is reality based.
