Maryland InterventionIntervention news As if this wasn't enough, in the same recent study, Maryland had 51,000 people between the ages of 12 and 17 who had likewise used illicit drugs during the same year period. These are teenagers who would normally be studying hard to try and get into college or discovering relationships and getting their first job etc. Instead, many of these 51,000 individuals are heading straight down the path of full blown addiction to drugs and alcohol. This may seem like an overstatement of sorts but the national averages of around 30 million people being addicted to drugs and/or alcohol shows that, with regards to Maryland, these are in actual fact likely very conservative numbers. With that in mind, an addiction intervention at this age is crucial to circumvent much of the certain devastation that lies ahead for these young lives. Similarly, in Maryland during the same time period as above, 118,000 people between the ages of 18 and 25 used illicit or illegal drugs as well. As these young adults are starting families and setting their life long career paths in line, they are simultaneously risking the loss of everything they either have built or could build to an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. The destiny of entire families and the next generation can rest upon a successful intervention during this critical time to get the person who has become trapped by addiction to regain the ability to live happy and healthy again. For those who weren't helped during their younger years the threat of addiction and subsequently the need for intervention goes on. As an example, in Maryland, 168,000 people 26 years of age or older had reported using an illegal drug during the same year period. These are adults. These are the citizens of Maryland. Many of these adults had used drugs of one kind or another and had little or no intervention into what may now be full blown addiction. 168,000 people ages 26 or older flittering with the disaster of drug use or worse yet struggling with the chains of drug or alcohol addiction. It is definitely time for a true intervention and a chance at turning an otherwise lost life around by getting them unshackled from the plague of drug addiction.
