Recently I experienced how an addict, past or present, carries thier past with them.  Within early drug and alochol intervention problems relating to a persons past can be handled before lifes lessons begin to follow them. Your past follows you for the rest of your life!!

Today is November 24, 2007 and I am returning from an attempted trip to Canada to do an intervention on an 18 year old female who is addicted to methamphetamine. I am in hopes that the intervention is successful, however; I didn’t get to do it.  The reasons why are within the following text and the lesson here to learn is that your past follows you where ever you go and within whatever you do.

I am in hopes that the intervention is successful, however; I didn’t get to do it.  The reasons why are within the following text and the lesson here to learn is that your past follows you where ever you go and within whatever you do.  Using drug and alcohol intervention at an early point can save your loved one from struggling later in life when legal issues from the past can become a problem.

I am writing this today so that I can let families and hopefully addicts alike, know that what you do in your life actually does follow you to the bitter end.  I have heard many stories of those who struggle through addiction for many years and during that time they absolutely ruin their public legal records.  I am of the opinion that kids today think much like I did when I was an addict, and that was that I wouldn’t get into trouble with the police and if I did then so be it.  I remember having no disregard or concern about how my behavior might, and most certainly does, affect you later on, much less how drugs affect your current life and how that as well carries with you well into the future.  Long after a person overcomes addiction, their record follows them.  Families that chose early drug intervention are honestly saving their loved one from many problems later on in life not only from the struggles that drug and/or alcohol addiction can cause.

Without the use of early drug intervention you might imagine someone hoping to become the president of a large company or a pilot for the airlines or whatever, when they are younger but through their addiction get into trouble.  Truth be told, we all have dreams, even addicts. Yes, I know that a lot of families out there hope that this never happens, but it does in almost every instance if you wait to long to use intervention.  Let’s remember that drugs are illegal, even legal prescription drugs end up on the streets for sale to illegal buyers which increases the danger of being found and convicted in possession of a controlled substance.  In most states a person found to be high on drugs gets charged with a DUI (driving under the influence) which equates to drunk driving even though the substance is drugs and may not be alcohol.  All these instances end up on a persons record for a period of time and sometimes permanently.  Choosing to use drug intervention early can stop this from happening, IF you do an intervention at the early stages of a person’s addiction prior to legal trouble or just after getting into trouble for the first time.  First time offenders, re-offend nearly 98% of the time according to the National Survey on Drug Abuse.  Jail is not a deterrent to using drugs and alcohol nor does it have the means to handle a persons addictions even if they do time in prison.

What should be considered is that when a potential employer looks at a persons record they see DUI and do not discern as to whether it’s drugs or alcohol, or whether the problem has been overcome or not they just know that there is a problem.  The sad fact of the matter is that even after you have cleaned up your life these in discrepancies don’t just disappear from it.  They are carried with you until you complete probation periods, comply with all court orders for long term drug rehabilitation and pay hefty court costs and fines, not to mention fees paid to attorneys and so on and so forth.  One complete you can apply to get your record expunged and trust me it is a very expensive and lengthy process, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t and potentially you end up with legal problems that can’t be erased.  Imagine having to confront an addiction and then spending the rest of your life fighting what you have done within that addiction.  Again, early intervention can help to avoid these lingering problems that can and most assuredly will affect the rest of your life.

Without the use of early drug intervention you run a very real risk of being granted access to other countries as well, even if you are there trying to help.  There are many countries, especially since 9-11, that deny access to those with a criminal background, even a non-violent criminal background.  I realize that it doesn’t sound fair but the law is the law.

The point to this writing is that if you have someone in your life who is suffering through addiction and they refuse to get help it’s only a matter of time before they get into legal trouble.  I make this suggestion to you as one of experience, early intervention works.   One of the main reasons I do what I do is so that I can try to save those people from having to live down an ugly legal past for the rest of their lives as well as simply survive.  If you have an addiction you need to be able to overcome and continue with your life like there was never a problem and continue your dreams not spend the rest of your life fighting it and feeling guilty for not being able to accomplish your dreams, in my opinion.

There is a cure for addiction.  A person addicted may not know that or even want it, depending on their condition, however; it is my intention to save addicts from a life of addiction, from possible prison or death through professional drug and alcohol intervention.  I want to help them get going in the right direction soon enough so that they don’t have to fight their past mistakes for the rest of their lives like I do.

I am a professional drug and alcohol interventionist, I overcame addiction a long time ago, I don’t struggle with it anymore and have dedicated my life to helping others do the same.  Families tell me that I save lives.  Even with all I do to contribute to saving others I still fight my past mistakes.  Don’t let the person you love get that far.  Let me help you save them!!!!  Early drug and alcohol intervention is the solution that should be first and foremost in your mind when someone you love is suffering.  Call me.  866-648-7609  http://www.InterventionAngel.com
